Parc-Le-Breos – A Labour of Love
Parc-Le-Breos House has been owned and managed by the Edwards family since the early 1950s. Prior to us taking ownership, it had fallen into quite a state of disrepair but after years of hard work from Tom and Gladys, and latterly Olive and John, by 1964 the house was ready to be used as a thriving pony trekking centre and bed & breakfast. In 2016 we made the hard decision to say goodbye to the pony trekking days and concentrated on turning this beautiful old house into a luxurious hotel and restaurant.
Over the last few years we have been busy. We have completed the renovation of the gardens, giving the house the backdrop it deserves. In the house itself we have created a fifty cover dining area, installed a plush new bar, crafted new deluxe rooms and a spectacular bridal suite. We have a great team of people who all strive to achieve the best standards of accommodation and food, and we are proud to have achieved acknowledgement in this regard by winning Swansea Bay Tourism Awards twice in recent years and receiving our first AA rosette.
Aside from our normal hotel and restaurant trade, we offer a range of events each year- some of which are small and run quietly alongside normal business (wine tastings, society meetings etc) and some larger events which necessitate closing our doors to residents for a few days (e.g. weddings and corporate events.) We enjoy this mix as it keeps us on our toes and, best of all, it never feels repetitive. When we host an event we really feel we get to know the family or business we are hosting, and when we open the hotel doors again, we look forward to seeing our regular customers and welcoming new faces.
The History
The house and gardens, steeped in history, are set in 70 peaceful acres of land that once were the deer park of William de Breos, from where the property gets its name.
Much of the architecture of the present-day house is the work of the Vivian family who built Parc Le Breos into a 2000-acre estate during the 19th century when they found fortune having developed Swansea’s copper industry.
The Gardens
The Vivian family, who lavished so much time and money on the house during their ownership here in the 1800s, were exceptionally keen gardeners.
Unfortunately by the time our family took ownership of the property, the original gardens had been lost but we have been working painstakingly since the early 2000s to restore the house’s stunning setting.
