What’s it like?

Slade Bay (also known as ‘The Sands’) lies on the back side of Oxwich Point. It’s a beautiful and quiet beach with plenty of sand at low tide and good fishing off the surrounding rocks. You can walk here from the village of Slade (accessed from Oxwich) or from Horton (15 minute drive from Parc-Le-Breos) where there is better parking. Walking from either place takes about 20 minutes.

Watersports

A good bay for swimming and snorkelling, but too far to carry other gear. Also nice to paddle around to in a canoe from Oxwich or elsewhere.

Fishing

A nice little beach to fish. You can usually find good luck here for flatfish while the bass come in from the rocks well on a rising tide.

Surfing

Reefs sitting below the low tide mark can generate some good waves here – rights and lefts when conditions are good – around low tide. The reef is fairly exposed but can have quite reliable surf in winter and spring. The best swell direction is from the southwest. Offshore winds are from the north. Can become crowded when conditions are good.
